Biography

W. Dale Summerford is a lifelong resident of Gadsden County. He was originally elected Tax Collector in 1988 and is currently serving his 4th term, Prior to serving as Tax Collector, he was employed as a loan officer with First Florida Bank in Quincy.

Mr. Summerford received his Certified Florida Collector designation from the Florida Department of Revenue in 1991. During his years in office, he has been actively involved in the Florida Tax Collectors Association. This has enabled him to stay abreast of the constant changes in Florida Law and technology. He is a Past President of the Association, served on its' Board of Directors, and chaired the Association's Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle Committee.

Mr. Summerford is married to the former Carolyn Bert of Havana. They have two daughters, Meg and Beth. He is a 1981 graduate of Tallahassee Community College and attended Florida State University. Mr. Summerford is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Quincy, where he has served as a Deacon, and currently serves as an Elder. He serves as Treasurer of the local Salvation Army Service Unit.
